Carcasses Aren't Meant to Be a Roadside Attraction

With rifle hunting season beginning, the MD of Taber is reminding residents and hunters to properly dispose of animal parts and carcasses.

The MD has seen a significant increase in the improper disposal of animal remains on public and private property. Animal carcasses and parts left along municipal roadways, in ditches, and on road allowances create concerns for residents, wildlife, and the environment.

Proper disposal helps prevent disease transmission, including Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD), protects air and water quality, discourages unwanted scavengers, and helps maintain positive neighbour relations.

Improper disposal of animal parts and carcasses on private or public property, including ditches and municipal rights-of-way, can result in fines. It also places an unnecessary burden on municipal staff responsible for cleanup.

For safe disposal, please deliver animal parts and carcasses to the Town of Taber Waste Transfer Station and Landfill, located one-half kilometre west on Highway 864. For more information, contact the Taber Landfill at 403-223-5569.

Let's work together to keep the MD of Taber clean, safe, and respectful for everyone.
