Highway 3 Twinning Project Update: Grassy Lake Detour Begins August 14
Motorists are advised that a traffic detour will be implemented on August 14, 2026, as part of ongoing construction for the Highway 3 Twinning Project near Grassy Lake.
To accommodate tie-in work on the east and west sides of Grassy Lake, traffic will be detoured between Range Road 144 and Range Road 131. The approximately 14-kilometre detour will maintain two-way traffic with a posted speed limit of 80 km/h.
The detour is required to complete connections between the new and existing Highway 3 at RR 135 and RR 132 and will remain in place until the final configuration of the new highway is complete.
Access to Grassy Lake will continue to be maintained via the New Highway 3 and Highway 877 intersection.
Drivers can expect minor delays as traffic is transitioned to the detour and are encouraged to use alternate routes where available.
