Taber, AB — The Municipal District of Taber (MDT) continues to demonstrate its strong commitment to recreation, active living, and community well-being through significant financial investments in recreational facilities and programs across the region.
From 2025 into 2026, the MDT has proudly provided funding support for both new recreational projects and upgrades to existing facilities within its municipal borders. These investments reflect the MDT’s belief that quality recreational infrastructure plays a vital role in enhancing residents’ quality of life and fostering vibrant, attractive communities where people can live, grow, and thrive.
Many of the supported projects have also received substantial funding from the Government of Alberta, maximizing the impact of local and provincial partnerships.
“Recreation plays a vital role in building strong, healthy communities,” said Reeve Miyanaga, on behalf of Council. “Through Council’s collective commitment to investing in recreational facilities and programs across the Municipal District of Taber, we are supporting the physical, social, and emotional well-being of our residents. Ongoing Annual Recreation Support

Community services—particularly recreation, active living, and sport—are essential to the physical, social, and emotional well-being of residents. To support these priorities, the MDT has established a structured funding system through its Operational Grants for Recreation Boards, Towns, and Villages policy.
In 2025, the MDT invested:
- $357,081 in neighbouring towns and villages, and
- $144,707 in hamlets
These funds support a wide range of recreational opportunities and facilities, ensuring residents across the MDT have access to inclusive, high-quality spaces for activity and connection.
Residents are encouraged to learn more about how recreation funds are allocated and utilized by visiting: mdtaber.ab.ca/p/recreation-grants
Through continued investment and collaboration, the MDT remains dedicated to strengthening recreation opportunities and supporting healthy, active communities across the region.
